Over The Hedge

Over The Hedge is hilariously funny! :) It is such good clean fun, makes me want to be a kid all over again. The plot is simple, but the storytelling is great and the characters are cute and cuddly. I wonder when Filipinos can make full length animation movies like this one?

Nothing much to do but watch movies every week. :D

Saw Maui Taylor at G4 this afternoon... HOT! :p

X3

X3 is probably the best X-Men movie in the trilogy! I am not really an X-Men or Marvel Comics fan but I really enjoyed this movie. The action sequences were really great, especially the mutant powers special effects (they were able to capture the comics feel in terms of the action) The story has a lot of twists though, quite different from the real comic continuity, but the movie managed to pull it off. Great performance by Kelsey Grammer as the Beast and Famke Jannsen as Jean Grey was really hot. I found at just now that there is an additional scene after the movie credits that I was not able to see. :/

American Idol Season 5 is over with Taylor Hicks winning the grand prize. I only watched the finals and it was a reat show. I would have wanted Katharine McPhee to win, but Hicks was really the better singer...
Speaking of finals, the NBA Conference Finals are ongoing. I really hope Miami Heat wins this time...
I saw Asia Agcaoili in Greenbelt, she looks really sexy! :p

Il Coda Da Vinci

I was able to watch the movie yesterday. It is said to be breaking box office records worldwide. Even with the R-18 rating here, a lot of people are lining up for the movie. Add to the fact that SM cinemas are not running the movie and it is also banned in Manila, moviegoers are all flocking to the same places/malls.

First and foremost, the movie was not true to the novel. Most of the key story elements are there but I guess they had to adapt it to fit into the length of the movie. The novel was more thrilling than the movie, but of course the art visuals and effects make the movie good enough.

Tom Hanks was okay as Langdon. The only cast member that, I think, was really right for the role as well as played the character superbly was Audrey Tautou. McKellen played a poor Teabing (reminds me too much of Magneto, as well as Aringarosa reminding me too much of Dr. Octopus).

So much for the hype regarding the movie's effects on people's faith. You come out of the cinema with the impression that it really is just a movie, starring Tom Hanks. The novel is a different matter because it's all thinking and imagining as you are reading it, and there is a lot more explaining going on. I guess i was also a victim of the media blitz surrounding the movie. I p[robably would have had a better time watching Over the Hedge.

Poseidon

Poseidon is the remake of a 1972 film and based on the book by Paul Gallico. If you read reviews, most belittle the film. I think it depends on what you're after when you will watch it. If you want a pretty deep story and dialogue, well, you won't find it in this movie. If you want special effects and prolonged suspense/thrilling sequences, then go ahead and watch it. What makes the movie rather exciting is, of course, the underwater scenes. You sometimes literally hold your breath like the characters when they swim towards one part of the ship and next. It is a disaster movie that makes you think what you will do if the same situation happened to you, and it tells you the truth - that survival is very bleak. Even if you survive initially, you'll be bound to succumb eventually unless you're very lucky. I give it 3 (out of 5) stars. It's something entertaining to see while waiting for The Da Vinci Code and X3. :)

tedbits ulit...

Magkano kaya suweldo nila, kung meron man?

tedbits...

I was able to complete Batman TAS already, and I was able to save P1260 from the actual cost... :)

Did you know that Robin is the first and longest-lasting superhero sidekick, although there have been several persons who wore Robin's costume in succession? In the 1960's Batman TV series, Robin uttered 352 variations of his favorite quote "holy _____, Batman"...

I saw a young female wearing a shirt that says "Chick Magnet". I guess some people just don't have any other shirt to wear, or they don't understand what's written on what they're wearing...
