The Sentinel

I saw the movie "The Sentinel" a while ago. It stars Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Eva Longoria, and Kim Basinger. The story basically revolves around the Secret Service and its' agents. An agent (played by Douglas) is on the run after he was framed as being involved in an assasination plot against the US President. It is said that in the long history of the Secret Service, there has never been a traitor in its ranks. Evidence gathered by Sutherland (Douglas' former friend and partner) points to a mole in the service (Douglas) and he is tasked to catch him. Longoria tags along as the rookie agent/trainee. Douglas' alibi is Kim Basinger (the First Lady with whom he is having an affair). Of course they eventually catch the real culprit and they save the US President. In the end, the mole sort of sacrifices himself and in his dying breath asks Douglas to save his family but Douglas just kicks him aside (so I guess the mole's family later gets killed by terrorists because the mole failed his job).

The plot is okay, although somewhat predictable. It shows a different facet of the life of Secret Service agents. Good performances from Douglas, Sutherland and Basinger. I guess Longoria is the token hottie for the film. There is not much suspense/thriller value in the film since we know from the start that Douglas is innocent. I guess the movie will do good because it'll bank on name of it's stars. I rate it 2 1/2 stars out of 5.

Shirt Stories

Shirts are cool but some shirts are so downright inappropriate in certain places and if worn by some individuals... :p

"MASTURBATION IS NOT A CRIME" - worn by a 20ish FEMALE while walking around the mall.

"UNPROTECTED SEX CAN LEAD TO A CHILD SUPPORT PROBLEM" - worn by a man in CHURCH while attending MASS.

"I'M A VIRGIN, THIS IS A VERY OLD SHIRT" - worn by a female who looked just in her TEENS.

Tuna Sandwich

Men: The Last Stand, Mission: Impossible III, Da Vinci Code at marami pang iba...

Power Books Live!

Pilar Pilapil launched her autobiography (The Woman Without A Face) yesterday at PB Live. I saw her but unfortunately I didn't get to listen to her talk. Her book seems interesting but is quite expensive. Hopefully they'll come out with a softcover copy.

On April 7 at 6pm, there will be a talk on "De-coding Da Vinci : Truth or Hoax?) at the same venue. I've read and seen quite a few books and videos debunking/critisizing the Dan Brown Novel but I'll probably go to this one to get a Filipino point of view. Speakers are Fr. Ari Dy, SJ, Dr. Ricardo Boncan, and Maria Andrea Y. Santos-Mendigo.

Pahabol... Barbie Almalbis has a new album, her first real solo one. Check it out at your favorite record store!

MuVo

I just got myself a Creative MuVo TX FM, sort of a delayed birthday gift for myself. It is an MP3/WMA player with FM radio and recorder, voice recorder and 4 preset EQ settings. It is recognized as a detachable disc and can store 256 MB of data/ 128 songs. I'm currently playing selected OPM hits. With Limewire, I can download my favorite songs and play them anywhere I am. :)
