demos again...

... still getting to play a lot of demos:
1. Flock: you play a UFO trying to steal sheep, with increasing difficulty as level increases. Cute game if you happen to be extremely bored.
2. Watchmen: The End Is Nigh: play as either Nite Owl II or Roscharch in this button-mashing game. Somewhat has the feel of the movie but tends to be monotonous.
3. Burnout: Paradise: released quite a while back. It has great crash physics but am not really a fan of racing/car games.
4. FIFA 09: nice football sim. Plays as if you're watching on TV.
5. Red Faction: Guerilla: newly released ff-up to Red Faction. This action/shooter game plays okay enough, but not really that exciting.
6. UFC 2009 Undisputed: looks like a great fighting game but the demo is too limited to adequately assess.
:-)

Monsters vs. Aliens

Monsters vs Aliens is rated PG. It is a relatively good movie for kids and it has several really funny moments.
3 stars.

Happy Easter!

...Happy Easter! Had a somewhat relaxing Holy Week... was not able to do Visita Iglesia this year because I was not feeling well enough last Holy Thursday...

...I was able to download/play additional PS3 demos. LOTR: Conquest and Mirror's Edge
are quite unique games from the usual shooters that I downloaded before. Mirror's Edge is also a first-person perspective game that has your character jumping and moving around buildings and rooftops. I found it dizzying/nauseating after a while, and it seems to be somewhat difficult (and monotonous) to play. The LOTR:Conquest demo was mainly a tutorial. It has an online multiplayer component though, via EA Nation. I also tried Metal Gear Solid 4 and it appears to be a good game just like what online critics say. I even downloaded the Resistance: Retribution demo even if I already have the game and am about to finish it. The demo was a part of the actual game itself and was not a tutorial like the other PSP demos I downloaded before...

...Shakey's V-League 6th Season 1st Conference kicks off April 19 at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan. DLSU, sadly, won't be joining since some of the athletes are still recovering from injuries and some players want to focus on their studies this summer. On a good note, UP will be their replacement and this will be the first time that UP will participate in the prestiguous tournament. The rest of the participating teams include UST, ADMU, AdU, FEU, LPU, DLS-CSB, SSC-R, as well as the Visayan teams of USLS and USJ-R. The collegiate teams will have two guest players to reinforce their line-ups. This promises to be a rather lengthy but very exciting tournament!...

... As part of promoting the upcoming Shakey's V-League 6th Season 1st Conference that will start April 19, Shakeys outlets have a VLeague bundle. For P799 you get a medium sized Hawaiian thin-crust pizza, 5-pc chicken buddy pack, a pitcher of iced tea, and a free volleyball. The ball is the old one and not the new 8-paneled FIVB ball. Gretchen Ho, a sophomore ADMU volleybelle, is the girl/model in the picture/standees promoting the VLeague bundle...

...The OZine Fest was held at Sm Megamall last Apr 3-5. I was at SM on the last day but I did not go inside anymore (entrance fee was P100). I just passed by outside the hall and looked at the various cosplayers hanging outside prior to the cosplay competition. A lot of people had their cameras (digicams, phone cams, and DLSRs) and were taking pictures of the cosplayers who were also gladly obliging, taking time to pose:

Darth Vader and Darth Maul:

The Sith paying homage to Obama:

Final Fantasy characters:

There seem to be more and more people who are participating in cosplay these days. I admit that most of the time I don't recognize them (the anime characters), they are still very colorful and fun to watch. There are also a lot of people with DSLRs who frequent these events to take portrait photographs...

...celebrity sighting: Bea Alonzo at EDSA Shang, wearing shades (I almost didn't recognize her)...
