upd8s...

I have not been able to update lately because I have been quite busy... playing games on the PSP! :-)

... This is the latest from Jollibee: Black Forest Sundae. Every time a new product comes out (from fast food outlets), I am always tempted to try it out. Not exactly a very healthy idea sometimes, but then again at least I would know how the new product tastes like and it gives me a reason all the more to be able to resist buying it again in the future...

...I have noticed that Dunkin Donuts doughnuts have become quite small. They almost look dehydrated/emaciated at times, especially when compared to their size way before. Did you know that their ham and cheese bunwich with extra egg costs P2 less than their egg and cheese bunwich with extra ham?!...

...Because of problems with Power Books' Power Card, I decided to get a Laking National card and Fully Booked's discount card. The National Bookstore card only accumulates points (for e-purse), whereas the card of Fully Booked is only a discount card. The Power Card is supposed to be the best because it is an e-purse as well as a discount card, but because of it's lousy record-keeping you end up losing your accumulated points every so often. Whatmore, Power Books stores do not update/centralize their card data often enough. Points you accumulated when you purchased at a certain branch do not reflect when you buy anew at a different branch. I also noticed that Power Books has not updated it's shelves recently and I end up seeing the same books every time I get to drop by their stores. National and Fully Booked seem to carry much newer releases (especially for the genres that I like)...

tedbits...

...I met up with old classmates at Sta. Lucia mall. Last time I went there was years ago. I was suprised to find that they already have a newer and much larger building at the back. This building has 5 stories and has a lot of restos and shops compared to the older building. Aside from that, they also have an area behind the annex that has a lot of restos/bars (the area is just like St. Francis Square in Mandaluyong)...

...I was able to buy a UMD case at that mall. I've been looking for a case like that in several stores/malls in Metro Manila and have not been abe to find any. I was almost tempted to order online at Amazon, good thing I happened to be roaming around Sta. Lucia and saw it as I was passing by...

...One thing I noticed is that in terms of original PSP games, Data Blitz stores have a more varied range of titles. They also have the lowest prices. Some of the other video game stores have prices that cost an additional P500-1000 compared to the prices (of exactly the same games) in Data Blitz...

...I haven't finished Lego Batman but it turns out to be a nice and funny game. It is rated E (10), will rate it once I finish it.

...The newest games that are out are NBA Live 09 and NBA 09 The Inside. I used to play NBA Live on the PC but it's recent versions have not been as good as before. I was wont to try the PSP version but the new version in general is said to be great because of "Dynamic DNA". The Inside is exclusive to Play Station consoles and has better previews/reviews online than Live (although there are still only a small number of these on each title). Aside from that, The Inside costs P500 less than Live so I ended up getting it. So far so good...

lasagna cont...

Sbarro's lasagna is priced at P198. This is with tomato sauce topping, it costs an additional P24 for the meat sauce option. So far, this is the best lasagna i've had and it is very meaty and the noodle is firm and does not easily break. The garlic bread is also very tasty and soft. 4 stars (only, because of the price).

I found that French Baker also serves good lasagna. At P135, it is also quite tasty but the size is rather small. It is smothered in cheese/sauce somewhat covering for the small serving. The garlic bread is toasted and is also crunchily good. 3.5 stars.

more lasagna to follow...

collectibles

I went to the first day of Collecticon '08 held at Robinson's Midtown. The event was well-attended although the venue was quite cramped and small. The usual toys/collectibles of Marvel, DC and Star Wars were on sale. There were also a lot of other collectibles like anime/manga, cards, action figures, cars, comics, graphic novels, prints, miniatures, statues/statuettes. CDs/DVDs of different anime/cartoons/movies were also being sold. Some bands were there, who performed mostly rock. A lot of people were taking pictures with cosplayers who played Darth Vader, stormtroopers, Batman and Joker. Cosplay queen Alodia also graced the Maxi Collector booth.

The event was held at the atrium of Robinson's Midtown in Ermita.

A lot of people were having their pics taken with this Spider-Man statue.

Statuettes of some Marvel heroes..

Busts of the new and the old Joker..

Darth Vader was there along with stormtroopers from the 501st squadron.

Batman was also there, along with a Joker cosplayer.

One of the many Iron Man figures..

Popular cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao was at the Maxi Collector booth.

She was a hit among photographers. She cosplayed Shana of TV5's new show Shakugan No Shana.

I was there for only a few hours but I had fun! The bands were quite good and a lot of them played their own original songs. Too bad I did not bring enough money, I only bought a CD of Justice League: A New Frontier. Some of the toys/collectibles were really at bargain prices. This weekend, Cosplay Mania will be held at SM Mega Mall. I hope I can find time to go there too. :-)
