The Novice

The Novice is the second book in Trudi Canavan's The Black Magician Trilogy. Sonea joins the Magician's Guild and becomes a novice. The novel primarily concerns Sonea's trials, training and progression as a student. The Black Magician gains an upper hand as the story moves on, and there a few unexpected twists later in the book. Everything seems to be leading to the climactic third and final part of the trilogy, "The High Lord".
