Jasmine

I really enjoy watching free mini-concerts at malls or at record stores. Watching live performances are definitely better than seeing these artists perform on TV or just listening to their albums. I'm not that much of a real concert-goer and the last concert that I paid to be able to watch was that of Norah Jones last year. I buy original CDs though, I guess that's my way of supporting OPM/ artists.

I just saw Jasmine Trias perform at Glorietta today! She is here in the Philippines to promote her debut album. She also did some TV guestings (I saw her at PBB where she stayed overnight at the PBB house, and she will also be seen at an episode of Ch 2's Your Song).

Jasmine Soriano Trias is an American citizen but fully Filipino by blood. I guess I'd describe her as a Filipinized American (an American who was born and raised in the US but in a Filipino fashion and imbued with good Filipino values). She shot to fame after finishing 3rd in Season 3 of American Idol. She was also an endorser of McDonald's last year (remember the Love Ko 'To song and the Jasmine Trio promo).

I'm not really a fan of hers, neither do I have her CD, but I wanted to see her perform live. Admittedly her voice has improved much since her Idol days, probably because of more confidence and practice. She's pretty and sexy too. She sang 4 songs that are included in her album. First was her signature song Inseparable (she sang this on Idol). She then sang Kung Paano composed by Vehnee Saturno (this is the featured song in the Your Song episode where Jasmine makes her acting debut). Sana Lang was her next Filipino song (this was originally a Korean song and was translated ). Her last song was Lose Control, with an upbeat tune that she danced to.

Her performance was good. After singing she then had an autograph signing session. The crowd wasn't that large ( I guess it wasn't advertised that much since I only knew about it in the morning). She says she'll be leaving tomorrow for a US Tour with South Border.

Tidbits... The new Jollibee Crispy Bangus Belly is really crispy and delicious! A word of caution to those on a diet though, it's deep fried and very oily.
